What is the Browser Reminders Tool?

The Browser Reminders tool is a local scheduling utility that delivers system-native notifications directly to your desktop or mobile device. Standard digital planners often sync your schedule with external cloud databases, which poses a privacy risk. In contrast, this reminder app runs completely offline within your browser, ensuring that your tasks, appointments, and habits remain private.

By leveraging the browser's native notification system, this utility triggers timely alerts. It stores your tasks in your local browser sandbox, giving you a private schedule manager that survives browser restarts.

How to Use the Browser Reminders App

Creating and managing your local alerts involves the following steps:

  1. Click the "Allow Now" button on the permission banner to grant the browser authorization to display native notifications.
  2. Enter a brief, descriptive name in the "What's the reminder for?" text input box.
  3. Specify the exact alert date and time using the "When should we notify you?" datetime-local picker.
  4. Click the "Create Reminder" button. The new task will appear under "Active Reminders".
  5. Ensure the browser tab remains open or pinned in the background so the scheduling loop can trigger the alert.
  6. Click the "×" button next to any reminder to delete it, or click "Clear Expired" to clean up past entries.
